Tony Corrigan was born in Dublin in 1953 and raised in the Moss Side district of Manchester in a house, which became the gathering place of the Corrigan/Morrissey clan (the singer Morrissey is his first cousin). He enjoyed a childhood filled with laughter, stories and conversation

He was educated at St Peter’s Grammar school and at the University of Lancaster where he studied English literature. He trained as a teacher of English and eventually became Head of English and later an advanced skills teacher, one of the first to be appointed in Staffordshire

A popular and inspirational teacher, nominated by his pupils for the Teacher of the Year Award, he went on to receive a special commendation in the regional finals. Over the years he has instilled his love and appreciation of books into the hearts and minds of his pupils. He enjoys entertaining young people with his story telling and believes that reading to children is the best way to encourage them to enjoy books.

He is married to author/illustrator Valerie Greeley. They have two grown up sons and live on the Staffordshire-Cheshire border in England with their little Jack Russell Ted.

Valerie Greeley grew up in a small northern town in Lancashire England and attended Manchester Metropolitan University College of Art and Design where she graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Textile Design.

Her work reflects her life long interest in nature and the environment and her love of pattern and intricate details is apparent in her work. She started her career as a textile designer and then moved into children’s book illustration after an editor spotted some of her products in the shops. She has illustrated over thirty books including the best selling White is the Moon which was originally published by Blackie and Son Ltd. and later by Harper Collins and Macmillan in the USA. This book sold film rights and has been shown on the BBC Children’s Television, it was also voted one of the top ten picture books in the USA by Redbook Magazine. Several of her picture books have been nominated for various awards including British Book Design Awards and the Sir Peter Kent environmental award.

For most of her working life she has lived with her husband and sons in the Stoke-on-Trent area and has worked with many ceramic companies including Royal Doulton, Royal Worcester and The Wedgwood Group, who have used her decorative artwork on china and porcelain. Her work appears on stationery, calendars, tableware and home accessories. She is currently designing ranges of textile designs for Makower UK, a manufacturer of printed textiles for quilt makers.

She loves to combine detailed drawing with pattern and design, all of which are evident in The Bird with the Rainbow Tail. This is the first book that she has written with her husband Tony Corrigan who also narrated the story in English. This is very much a family venture, as the couple’s youngest son James Corrigan has been responsible for the music and voice recording.

MCBs on Elements of Art

Teresa Brennan is an American artist and children’s book author. She spent 5 years teaching art to children in grades k-8 and operating a non-profit organization which brought art to children in homeless shelters in Chicago. Her books focus on teaching children the beauty and wonder of nature and art and the vision of artists throughout the centuries.

Teresa grew up in rural Ohio surrounded by fields and forests. She learned to draw and paint at a very early age and loved to read about artists and imaginary worlds. Her love of art and reading carried over into her teaching days where she inspired young children to use their imaginations and creativity to express their feelings and thoughts. Her books are inspired by the children she taught and the children she knew growing up.

Teresa now lives in Chicago, IL. She is currently finishing a series on the Five Elements of Art, which will also be available as MCB storybooks, and stories about the young lives of famous artists.

The author of Den Huren des Waldes, a book of poems and prose texts, has been a secondary-school teacher since 1975 in Ludwigsburg, and since 1986 single father to his daughter Katharina, who was born in 1984. Now Rainer Obrowski lives in Freiberg/Neckar.

"I wrote Baby Seal Sammy’s Journey for all the children who may enjoy it, but originally for my two and a half year old daughter Katharina, who, when she was being diapered, made sounds like little baby seals do. As with Janoschs' children's book Kaspar Mütze she knew Baby Seal Flipper’s Journey by heart after having listened to it a couple of times", says Rainer Obrowski.

Richard Cotterell

Richard Cotterell

The Adventures of Colin and Clarissa

Richard Cotterell lives in a small village in Leicestershire, England, with his wife and daughter, two dogs and five very noisy chickens. He works for a large American corporation but his real passion is writing children’s stories.

When his daughter was growing up, just like every Mum and Dad around world, he read her bedtime stories. However, they had more fun creating new characters and stories. One fantastic night the two characters Colin and Clarissa popped into their heads. From that moment on they were hooked and each and every night they made up fantastic and exciting adventures. The days of Richard Cotterell always end with a smile and the chance to share a wonderful moment with his daughter exploring their imaginations.

When she received the first copy, she ran excitedly into school and showed it to her friends and teachers and the response was fantastic. To Richard Cotterell's great satisfaction, this response remains as he continues to visit many more schools to perform readings of his book The Adventures of Colin and Clarissa.
